“Success is the sum of small efforts—repeated day-in and day-out.” —Robert Collier

This quote by Robert Collier is true not only in the nutrition aspect but also in training. Oftentimes, we think of big goals or that we need to take big steps to see results. A lot of people when they start to make a change they go all out. They say I’m going to work out 6 days a week and cut out all these bad foods I eat, but in reality, what happens is they only last 2 or 3 days and then fall back to their old habits. Taking small steps forward will result in reaching your goals.

Maybe you start with 1 or 2 workouts a week or instead of restricting foods from your diet take out one bad thing. The goal of nutrition and training is consistency. Even making small steps forward is still making progress. In other words, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

"By choosing healthy over skinny, you are choosing self-love over self-judgment.” —Steve Maraboli

Skinny can be the ideal term people say when they want to be healthier, but someone skinny isn't necessarily healthy. Nutrition comes down to giving your body enough nutrients. By restricting too many calories or foods you're just chasing being skinny and not what’s important which is your health.

Some people when training they focus on being skinny, so they start not eating or looking at food in an unhealthy way. You may become skinny, but at what cost. It’s about your health. There is plenty of proper ways to losing weight.

"It's not about perfect. It's about effort. And when you bring that effort every single day, that's where transformation happens." - Jillian Michaels

Nutrition can be seen as something that has to be strict with no variation, but this isn’t the case. Yes, it would be better to eat clean all the time, but having a cheat meal or eating the foods you enjoy is normal. Your nutrition plan has to fit into your regular lifestyle. Having a cheat meal once a week won't ruin your progress. As long as you stay consistent and put in the effort you’ll be just fine.

"Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” —Jim Rohn

The biggest mistake beginners make in the gym, specifically younger adults in the gym are lifting too heavy. This will result in injury may be not now but later down the road. We only have one body, and we need to take care of it. Exercising can be dangerous if done incorrectly. This could be from lifting too heavy or improper form. Beginners in the gym need to exercise safely and take care of our body. Always ask for help in the gym if you're unsure.

"All progress takes place outside the comfort zone." — Michael John Bobak

This quote isn't necessarily for exercise, but it relates to exercise. Completing the same reps and weight in the gym day after day will eventually lead to not progressing. Your body needs to expect new changes to keep getting results. You have to step outside your comfort zone to grow and see changes in the gym.

"The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion." — Arnold Schwarzenegger

Training in the gym should be done with intensity. Going through the motions at the gym isn’t going to get you results. You need to be putting in the work with each exercise. As Arnold states, push through those last 3-4 tough reps. Our bodies like staying the same. They need that intensity or else they won’t want to change.

"You have to think it before you can do it. The mind is what makes it all possible."— Kai Greene

Fitness in general is a mental and physical game. The mental part is waking up eating right, training hard and doing it all the next day. Having a good mindset about fitness will make all the difference in your training. This quote could also touch on having a plan for starting. Thinking and creating a plan for your fitness goals will be the best way to succeed. Having the plan can help you with the mindset.

Fitness quotes can sometimes be cheesy, but they can provide us with the motivation we may need. On the days you feel less motivated to work out, looking at any of these quotes can refuel you to keep going. One of the biggest successors of fitness is consistency. Being consistent will get your results. It’s okay to miss a training day or have a bad meal as long as you can get back on track. Consistency is key.

You can usually find me writing at a cafe sipping on coffee or working out at the gym. I fell in love with writing a few years ago and have never looked back. I love being able to share my words with the world.
