About Smera
With 6 years of teaching and a BM in Jazz Vocal Performance, I help singers turn their voices into expressive instruments ready for the stage. My teaching centres around musical theatre and Broadway performance, with a strong emphasis on character work and storytelling. Whether you're in middle school or preparing for professional auditions, my lessons are tailored to meet you where you are. We focus on safe belt technique, dynamic stage presence, and quick vocal shifts—skills essential to modern theatre. My training in ear development, harmony, and music theory supports deeper understanding and vocal versatility. I also bring improvisation into the mix, encouraging freedom and spontaneity. Above all, I believe in nurturing every voice with care, patience, and purpose. Each session is interactive, uplifting, and grounded in healthy vocal technique. I believe singing is one of the most personal forms of expression. In my teaching, I help students explore their own voices and use them to tell stories that matter. Lessons go beyond technique—we dive into lyric meaning, character development, and honest emotional connection. You’ll learn how to shape a song with your choices, not just your notes. We work on breath, tone, and control while keeping storytelling at the core. Each lesson is about discovering what the music means to you. I help students sing with intention, clarity, and emotional strength. Through my work with The Fiddler and The Music Major, I’ve supported singers in finding their voice as artists. My teaching adapts to every level, and every voice. We create a safe space for growth and bold expression. You’ll leave each lesson more in tune with your own voice and ready to share it.
