About Alex
I've worked as a freelance tutor for about a year after college as a side hustle because I really enjoyed helping my friends with math/physics and got a lot of compliments over the years. I'm not here to just give you answers (you have ChatGPT for that). I want to help build your confidence and mindset on how to approach problems so that hopefully you can learn to teach things to yourself. Math, physics, and teaching are passions of mine and I look forward to watching my students succeed! :D

My experience as a tutor is primarily in any math up to Calculus, general chemistry, and most intro/intermediate level physics. I am most comfortable with college students, but have experience with high school students as well.
I like to prepare material beforehand so that we don't waste time during our lessons. I am a little picky about the examples I choose because the nuances in some problems explain a certain concept better than others, and I try to paint the perfect picture for my students so that they aren't confused by a poor example.
As a tutor, my goal is to not only help them with the problems they are stuck on, but help them in a way that they are able to solve those problems on their own in the future.
I try to guide my students in the right direction by asking them questions to find where the gaps are in their knowledge, then give them tips on how to overcome those challenges. I know how humiliating it might feel to not understand something even after being helped and I hope to build an environment where my students are comfortable admitting what they don't know.
I have a lot of experience with time-limited tests, so I try to provide my knowledge on test taking strategies and preparation if needed. I am also open to answering questions about material covered during our lesson afterwards through text if there is any clarification needed.

I think Alex is a trustworthy teacher because he helped my sister believe in herself when she thought she wasn’t capable of learning math. He tutored my sister during her senior year of high school, she started off with a D. By the end of the year, after multiple sessions with Alex, she was able to achieve her first A in a math class, let alone in trigonometry. Not only was she able to score high academically, but Alex gave her a new sense of confidence and enthusiasm for math. His tutoring helped her break out of her shell and helped her prove to herself that she could be good at anything if she really tried.
He was able to break down a lot of complicated physics concepts that I needed to understand for my AP exam. Super nice and very understanding if you don't get it the first few times!
Smart, respectful, and understanding! Would definitely reach out again!
Alex helped me with some algebra problems I was having. He is very patient and passionate about teaching. he definitely tries to go above and beyond for his students. I recommend him with every fiber of my being.
