About Ewan
With over five years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education focused on voice, I’m passionate about helping singers tell stories through their music. My teaching centres on Jazz Standards, Broadway solos, and timeless Golden Age repertoire. I love guiding students through swing phrasing, jazz ornamentation, and character interpretation to bring songs to life. Reading lead sheets and understanding the structure of music is also a big part of my lessons. I work with a variety of students—from passionate adults to seasoned singers and community theatre actors—each with their own goals and styles. Together, we explore how to connect emotionally with the music while refining technique. I believe great singing comes from combining style, emotion, and a bit of classic charm. My goal is to help every student feel confident and expressive on stage. My teaching approach focuses on building strong vocal skills through harmony singing, microphone technique, and vocal improvisation. I help students explore pop and R\&B styles with confidence and creativity. Each lesson is designed to develop clear pitch control and smooth blending with others in harmony, while also improving stage presence using the microphone effectively. For those who are newer to singing, I provide gentle guidance to build a solid foundation, making sure they feel comfortable and motivated. More experienced singers receive tailored challenges to expand their range and expressive skills. I encourage creative freedom while reinforcing good technique, helping students find their own unique voice. I support learners through patient instruction and positive feedback, making practice enjoyable and effective. Whether working on tight harmonies or freestyle improvisation, lessons are interactive and fun. My goal is to help every student improve steadily and perform with confidence in any setting.
