About AndyFerrell
My name is Andy Magee, an American-born Swedish citizen, and a 42-year-old native
English speaker that has been living and working in Stockholm since 2008. I am completely
invested in moving to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, as soon as possible!
I’ve been at two English International schools the entire time in Sweden, as a native English
teacher with qualifications in TEFL, ESL, and Cambridge Certified ESL, as well as an advanced
degree in International Development and Education. I have 20 years experience teaching Native
English, ESL, Music, Science, and Math.
Although I really enjoy teaching, and feel fulfilled every day, I feel it is time to move on
from Sweden to an environment that specifically promotes an international perspective more akin
to my lifestyle; to be at an establishment like yours, where the English language is ”alive”, and
functions as a living form of communication. On a personal note, I have stayed in Sweden so
long so that I could raise my Swedish-American daughter, but now she is off to college and it is
time for me to move on. Exciting times!
Teaching:
My wish is to be in a setting- and, more importantly, to educate and mentor students in
this setting- where all of my colleagues, students, and leaders share a belief in the value of an
international, bilingual, and multicultural education. Similarly, I want to be somewhere that
knows this will lead to the development of capable, competent young individuals and culturally
aware world citizens. I am excited about the prospect of joining your community!

I am ambitious and enthusiastic about the prospect of working within the international
setting of San Miguel de Allende and the surrounding areas, learning and working with your
curriculum and/or the IB in an international and diverse English-language environment. I feel my
knowledge of bilingual pedagogy, music pedagogy, ESL, and the English ”NAtive Language”
approach to this new (for me) curriculum would be an added benefit to your community of
professionals. I am confident that the expectations I have put on my students over the years and
the outcomes these produced would be of equally high quality within my future at your
institution. I am looking forward to the prospect of joining your community. I am flexible,
engaging, attentive, and supportive. I believe this job will be perfect for me. Thank you for your
consideration!
