About Russell
Hi! I'm Russell. I have degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and I am now getting my masters in Robotics at CMU. I also work on mars rovers at the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab!
In my opinion, the most important thing about tutoring is feeling like you are in a comfortable learning environment. That is the best way to get comfortable with the material. My tutoring style is very casual and low-pressure. Rigor is important, but is secondary to simply feeling confident.

I'm an experienced tutor who specializes in one-on-one tutoring for Math, Physics, and Computer Science at the high school or college level. I work well with students who feel they might be falling behind, or those who simply want to spend more time with the material in order to feel confident.
As a current graduate student, I understand the stresses of difficult coursework, and I strive to create a casual and comfortable tutoring environment without sacrificing rigor. I have experience tutoring:
• Precalculus, Calculus, Differential Equations, Multivariable, Statistics
• Higher-Level Math: Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, Graph Theory, Combinatorics
• Physics 1, Physics 2, AP Physics
• Computer Science Principles, Programming (Python/Java/C/Ruby), Algorithms, Data Structures, Data Science
A typical session might include 30 minutes of content review, 30 minutes of guided problem solving, 15 minutes of independent problem solving with assistance, 15 minutes of contextualization (i.e. "why are we even learning this?").
I am available for both online tutoring and in-person sessions in the Pittsburgh area. Feel free to reach out :)
