About Aaron
I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Joint Doctoral Program at San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. My favorite part of graduate school was mentoring undergraduate students, who have gone on to graduate study at top institutions in the U.S. and Europe. I understand how intense the chemistry struggle can be - I’ve lived it! However, I firmly believe that with mutual understanding, patience, and humor, I can make the learning process way less intimidating and much more approachable for you. My goal is to create a focused and engaging atmosphere where students can build confidence and truly master the material.

I help high school and college students build confidence, deepen their understanding, and develop strong problem-solving skills in the chemical sciences. For high school students, I provide tutoring for AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, SAT II Chemistry and Regents Exams. At the college level, I work with students in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Advanced Inorganic Chemistry. For MCAT students, I provide specific preparation for the General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry sections.
Beyond coursework, I support students applying to REUs and graduate programs, offering detailed feedback on personal statements and application materials. I understand what makes a strong application stand out, and I help students craft compelling narratives that highlight their achievements and potential. I endeavor to help each student achieve their best by understanding their unique learning style. Once we figure that out, I’ll help you truly grasp the material and apply it with confidence.
I know chemistry can be intense, but don’t worry if you feel like you’re below the surface! For all instruction I take a down-to-earth, problem-solving based approach to instruction. If you're looking for expert chemistry tutoring to help you achieve your goals, send me a message — I look forward to working with you!

I've had the pleasure of working with Aaron for nearly a decade, from graduate school onward. His deep understanding of organic chemistry, combined with his ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and relatable way, makes him an outstanding teacher. If you're struggling with organic chemistry, I highly recommend working with Aaron - you'll be in great hands.
I've known Aaron for many years since we were in a chemistry Ph.D. program. When I encountered complex problems during experiments, he provided me with helpful guidance in detail. He was also passionate about teaching laboratory courses and mentoring undergraduate assistants in his research group. He would succeed as a tutor and lead his students in the right direction.
Aaron and I were graduate students in San Diego. Aaron is a brilliant chemist and phenomenal teacher. His professionalism and ability to teach at a high level will raise the bar for your platform, and his students will fall in love with his humor and well-rounded intelligence. Aaron will know the material better than anyone and be able to teach it to students who want to learn from him.
I recommend Aaron because he is meant to be a professor. He sees the world as a chemist and is able to present topics in a logical manner. He makes me want to learn more about chemistry.I worked closely with Aaron on a research project he was leading during his PhD. I can personally attest to the fact that he is both an outstanding scientist and teacher. He is an excellent communicator, and this skill proved invaluable for the success of the project, supporting a very smooth and fruitful collaboration between a number of individual contributors. I've known him to be extremely intellectually curious with sprawling interests that extend far beyond the boundaries of his professional expertise. In his work, he's detail oriented and very meticulous; he's highly motivated, self-disciplined, reliable, and unfailingly kind. I'm very glad to have worked with him. He is a very warm, intelligent, and funny human being and I highly recommend him to students looking for a caring and effective teacher.
Aaron was my organic chemistry mentor in college. He was wonderful. He was very patient with me even if it took me several times to grasp a concept. He does a great job balancing being stern enough to keep you focused and using time together efficiently but he is never mean or too forceful. He is incredibly smart and knowledgable but he stands out because you can tell he really cares about you succeeding. He has a funny sarcastic sense humor that helped keep things light when I felt frustrated or overwhelmed.
I highly recommend Aaron for Organic Chemistry. He helped me throughout O Chem 1 and 2 and motivated me to learn more beyond these courses, which led me to work with him doing organometallic synthesis during University. He is very knowledgeable in the field and patient at explaining concepts.
Aaron draws on a rich background of research in organometallic chemistry and catalysis, and has years of experience as a chemistry teaching assistant at San Diego State. He brings this deep knowledge and his passion for understanding science to his teaching, and will work hard to share that with the students he tutors.
