About Charlie

I’m a Certified REPS Level 3 Personal Trainer and Advanced Yoga Alliance Yoga Teacher.

With over twenty years’ experience training my own body for sports from rugby to surfing to mountain biking, I relish the different challenges my clients bring to the table every single day.

My goal is always to help my clients not only solve their issue but build a set of skills they will have for life - while having a laugh along the way!

Whether it’s improving general fitness, finally fixing injuries or performing at the highest level in your chosen sport - I’m passionate about using my knowledge to help you achieve genuinely transformational results with less stress. 

I work with men of all ages and fitness levels - from professional athletes to busy dads - helping them zone in on the specific areas where they want to achieve serious results or simply make better lifestyle decisions from weight training to stress management to nutrition.

Before we get started, I offer a free 30-minute video call to understand your specific goals & motivation and identify where my coaching can offer the greatest benefit.

For clients wanting in-person sessions alongside online classes, I travel to London every 4-6 weeks to do sessions in a park or at their place of residence.

Having worked online since 2020 with great results (see my reviews for more detail), I find this combination offers the best of both worlds.

  • What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

    I started playing sport from a very early age - as soon as I could kick a ball! Rugby, football, cricket, swimming, cycling - I pretty much gave everything a go. However, as I entered my late teens and twenties I got into surfing which meant I needed to work on my flexibility and balance. This is how I first discovered yoga which led me on the journey to becoming a professional yoga teacher and personal trainer.
  • What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

    I love to watch rugby because of the sheer physicality and athleticism of the athletes involved. I've recently started trail running in barefoot shoes which is a fantastic way to connect to nature. And as for a sport I'd still like to discover - I'd love to skydive with a wing suit on - as close as you can get to flying!
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

    It's not really about pursuing one sport - it's above being physically and mentally ready to do any kind of activity. I love that feeling of being "actualised" - ready to do anything, anywhere, anytime. To me, that is what fitness is all about.
  • Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

    I won my school high jump competition - the feeling of getting a prize for jumping higher than anyone else was pretty cool! But more seriously (and recently!), surfing the biggest wave of my life in Indonesia and doing my first triathlon a few years back were both achievements I am proud of.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

    Whenever I'm doing something active - I'm usually out in nature. I think nature provides the most demanding and most rewarding challenges. Whether it's paddling in big surf or running up a mountain - this is when you find out how to not just be a better sportsperson, but a better person in general.
  • If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

    Perhaps controversially, I'd go jogging with a man called Swami Sivananda. He isn't around any more but is essentially responsible for bringing yoga from India to the rest of the world! Apparently he wasn't just into doing yoga postures - he loved running and was very into physical fitness beyond yoga. I'd like to ask him what he thinks about the world today and if he could recommend any yoga posture - what would it be?
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

    Understanding the reason "why" they are undertaking yoga or personal training. When I understand that - I can keep reminding them of it and how it will benefit them. This is the best way to motivate someone as it is coming from them - not me!
  • What makes you a Superprof in sports?

    The fact that I really do live this lifestyle. I practice yoga and do exercise of some kind each and every day. It's part of me and I really enjoy sharing it with other people to help them improve the way they experience themselves and their daily life. After all - the body is where we live, so it makes sense to make it the best it can be.
