  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

    Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word 'Yuj' meaning to Unite or Join also meaning Unity or Oneness. It is the union of body, mind and soul.
    It is also defined in Bhagvada Gita as 'Samatvam Yogah Uchyate' which means 'Balanced State of Body and Mind' in all circumstances.
    It is an ancient practice which is more than 5000 years old and is the only form of exercise where breath is connected with the movement of the body. Understanding the yogic breath will help deepen your practice and increase connection between the mind and body.

    From a very young age, I was always very conscious about my health and wanted to have a healthy body. My parents were very conscious about their health and fitness and this developed an interest in me towards healthy eating and exercise. I was drawn mainly towards yoga as there are hundreds of benefits that come with yoga. I have seen and experienced these benefits and this reaffirmed my faith in yoga. Now I want to share its benefits with the world.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

    Teaching Yoga was the best decision I took in life. There were many things that happened to me that brought negative and inferior feelings and there seemed so much grey cloud ahead. But yoga changed my life completely.
    I never thought I would teach ever but the passion I had for yoga was seen by my friends and family and they motivated me to take it a step forward and start teaching. They had seen the changes in themselves after doing yoga with me and thus encouraged me to share the same knowledge with others so that even people outside my own circle are benefited by it. Thus I started taking yoga classes and try to help people in my own little way.
  • How does your work help society?

    "The happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others".

    I am a Certified Yoga Alliance Instructor, Dietician, Health and Fitness Coach. I have conducted many diet and yoga workshops for various clients and corporates and have clients all over the world. I also provide consultations for clinical and non-clinical diets and conduct personalised as well as group yoga sessions.

    During the course of my career, I have observed that when people come to me with their health problems, most of these problems are easily solvable through yoga and food. These problems are very easy to manage but due to lack of awareness about whom to approach for guidance and how to manage their eating habits, people are taking medicines and supplements for it or living with these health problems.

    Yoga is the best way to help people physically, mentally and spiritually. Through my work, I want to make every person more aware about their health. No one should face any physical or mental problems as health is the most important thing for an individual. I know that most of the diseases can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle and most of the health problems can be sorted out without going under the knife. I want the whole society to become healthier.

    This is what prompted me to form Swaasthya so that I can help more and more people achieve a healthy lifestyle in this busy modern world.
    Through Swaasthya I want people to understand the right way to exercise and make it part of their everyday life. Through my online yoga classes and workshops restore your body and soul, and feel better about yourself and begin your 'SWAASTHYA' journey.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

    There are so many people around me who can be my role model as I believe that everyone around us has something to teach us. So I try to look at all the positive qualities in people around me and try to imbibe those qualities in me. This really helps me to grow in my professional and personal life and to become a better person each day.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

    It's hard to escape when your hobby is your job as doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.
    But I can say apart from yoga, I like to travel to new places, visit heritage properties experience different cultures and do lots of shopping. I enjoy listening to different genres of music. I like to help people in whatever way I can.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

    When I started giving online yoga classes, I wasn't sure about how everything will work out as as I had never taken online yoga classes before. I was never a fan of technology and it took me a while to get a hang of things to conduct the classes. Sometimes I felt like giving up. But then every time I took a class, I saw that my students really enjoyed the session. They gave me many positive feedbacks about how my yoga practice transformed their lives and helped them with in solving their physical and mental problems. These feedbacks really encouraged me not to give up and to carry on.
    I hope I will be able to help as many people as I can with my yoga practice.
