Kickboxing veterans are way too familiar with the sport’s guiding principles. These principles were key factors in making them great players, which is why you should know about these principles, too. 

Kickboxing is based on seven principles: power, endurance, sparring, timing, defense, feinting, and distancing. All of these will be discussed below.

Power 

In kickboxing, you don’t need an overwhelming amount of force to have power. It might be useful for knockouts but there’s a set of techniques to have more powerful shots than just hard punches.

First, use your entire body to get behind the technique. Second, maintain a good stance for mobility and stability. An effective punch will only be powerful if you have a good stance. 

Endurance

Sparring

Feinting

Your deceptive moves, however, also require power and conviction. To be truly deceptive, you have to convince your opponent that was your real move. 

Distancing 

Finally, we have the principle, distancing. 

Attacks are more than just your movements. It includes the distance you set between you and your opponent. The right distance will add to the power of your move. If you fail to calculate it right, the execution will also most likely fail. 

Your mind has to be quick in calculating the distance right before you throw anything towards your opponent.
