About Hunter

I am a Chemistry tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MPhil in Chemistry. My teaching approach is holistic and interdisciplinary, focusing on the chemistry behind art and cultural heritage preservation. I guide students through the study of pigments, materials, and their chemical degradation over time. Understanding conservation treatments becomes engaging when we explore historical art pieces alongside chemical analysis techniques. I emphasize ethical considerations in restoration, helping students appreciate the responsibility involved in preserving cultural treasures. My lessons often integrate case studies from paintings, sculptures, and archaeological artifacts, showing chemistry in real-world applications. I work closely with art history students, conservationists, and anyone curious about the science behind safeguarding creativity. Techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and microscopy are introduced in a practical, understandable way. I aim to make complex chemical concepts accessible and relevant, connecting molecular science with human culture. Students learn to critically analyze materials and their transformations over time. I foster curiosity, careful observation, and a thoughtful approach to problem-solving. By combining theory with hands-on examples, I help students gain confidence in applying chemistry to conservation challenges. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire a deep appreciation for chemistry as a tool to protect and understand our shared cultural legacy.

My teaching approach in Chemistry focuses on building a strong conceptual understanding of the subject. I emphasize active visualization techniques to help students see atomic structures, electron configurations, and molecular geometries clearly. Understanding chemical bonding, molecular interactions, and periodic table trends becomes easier when concepts are illustrated step by step. I also integrate topics like thermodynamics, acid-base chemistry, stoichiometry, and chemical kinetics to give students a complete picture of core principles. I encourage students to ask questions and engage in problem-solving, making learning interactive and enjoyable. Complex ideas are broken down into simple, relatable examples, ensuring clarity at every step. I focus on helping students connect different areas of Chemistry so they can apply knowledge confidently in exams and assignments. With dedicated guidance, students develop critical thinking skills and a deep appreciation of chemical phenomena. I aim to strengthen their foundation in matter’s building blocks, from atoms to molecules. Through practice and visualization, they gain the confidence to tackle challenging topics. My goal is to support them in excelling academically while fostering curiosity and a love for the subject. Learning Chemistry with clarity and focus becomes an achievable and rewarding journey.
