About James
Over twelve years ago, I took the decision to train as a teacher, and I've never looked back. During that time, I've done my very best to ensure that every student who has studied with me is able to achieve their goals, whether it's been passing their GCSE Science or Cambridge English exams, delivering a presentation or being able to succeed at an interview for their dream job. My English lessons use a dynamic and customised methodology, focusing on identifying individual strengths and weaknesses. I've taught students of all ages and levels, and have over seven years' experience in teaching English. I employ a combination of speaking practice for building fluency with written and oral exercises and bespoke explanations of grammar. At times, I use textbooks where they can be useful. For students studying for English exams, lessons are focused on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.
As a Science teacher, I have five years' experience in secondary schools teaching KS3 and KS4. Online tuition is tailored to the needs of the individual student, utilising materials appropriate for the exam board and syllabus being followed. Lessons combine real-time explanations during lessons with homework (including past paper questions) to be done in the student's own time and checked in subsequent lessons to give targeted feedback in order to ensure that students are making progress.
