I tutor with a hands on, creative style that aims to make writing, literature, and the English language more approachable and less intimidating. The structure of my tutoring is very flexible and I encourage students to bring any work or assignments they're struggling with to me so that we can work through problems together.
It is my preference to use essay outlines when starting a paper as they help you structure your ideas. I can help you with the formation of a helpful essay outline at the beginning of a project if this is a concern. I also believe that feedback is what helps essay writers improve and because of this I will provide you with detailed verbal and written feedback to refer to when revising.
Classes are designed to encourage critical thinking about the texts. Theybwill look at how to analyse and critique a text while also developing the skills to write a well-constructed and coherent essay.
I use a scaffolding method to help students learn how to learn and develop better writing skills from lesson to lesson. Each class will start with some theory based on what we are trying to do, then have most of the time spent actually writing or revising so the student can learn.
I base my classes on the joy and creativity that reading and writing can bring to students, and the pride of expressing themselves in words. I have flexible teaching methods based on the needs of the student, from sounding out words, to explaining how grammatical rules make writing easier to understand.
I prefer discussion-based learning. I want to engage in conversations on what you are learning and delve further into the material to deepen your own understanding. If you present a novel or text, we will outline key points (characters, themes, settings, etc.) and work through why each is valuable to the whole work.
I like to encourage my students to generate their own ideas and work based off of those. I provide gentle guidance and insight, while helping mature their thought process. I focus first on the ideas, and then on the actual writing process.
My philosophy in teaching is very simple: Learn and have fun doing it! Many of my activities include singing, playing games, coloring, and using interactive PC games. I like to use lots of visual aids like flashcards and short videos. If it's fun and engaging I do it. If it's not fun and engaging, I don't do it.
My strategy are determined mainly on the subject matter to be taught. I aim to see that every student learns and understands the subject. I have been taking tutions to middle school students with 2 batches of 7 students each. I am dedicated and proactive with a strong commitment in high quality educational standards that develop the potential in every child.
My teaching philosophy is inclusive of all learning styles. I adapt my instruction to meet the needs of the learners by understanding their interests and backgrounds. Our classes are mutually built upon common goals that we establish together. Parents' role is equally important in maintaining a positive learning experience. Communication is the key tool between tutor, learner and parents.
Being a positive and patient tutor, my goals is to support my students by helping them become confident learners. I have experience assisting students from kindergarten to grade 6 in English and Math.
The technique that i typically use when it comes to teaching is trying to make the lesson as simple and easy and playful to understand in order to make sure the student can grasp as well as enjoy learning through the process. I also tend to use examples as i feel they help clarify a lot of confusions and tend to avoid jargons as much as possible unless it is a requisite.
I am enthusiastic in what I do and I like using visual aids. I am very flexible in what I do and am able to be flexible in helping you in the way you learn best in for the best success.
My strongest skill is adaptability and I like to apply that with my teaching methods. I really like to go out of my way to learn how an individual obtains knowledge and then adapt my teaching methods to their needs. In some cases that includes creating visuals in advance, sharing anecdotes or experiential learning.
I approach any teaching environment with flexibility and generally have a very relaxed classroom atmosphere. Having good rapport with my students is one of the most important things when I consider the approach needed to teach a particular topic, as each person has a unique personality and different ways of understanding language.
My teaching methods are based on patience, and getting to know each individual because everyone learns differently. I will hone in on each person's strengths and weaknesses, as well as the way they operate personality wise and be sure I offer them an individualized learning plan.
My teaching philosophy hinges on the individual student's needs. Every youth has their own unique way of learning. It's not about how smart they are, but how they are smart. With that in mind I focus on skill building, and teaching ways of thinking and questioning. From there I scaffold knowledge and understanding, building on previous lessons.
As someone who strives to be as effective of a teacher as I can be in the future, I have developed a style of teaching that takes into consideration the strengths and weaknesses of the students I am am working with. I ensure that any student I work with is dealt with fairly and companionably, and structure all my lessons in a way that will ensure I can get the best out of anyone I am working with.
I tailor learning to meet individual student's needs. First I gather as much information about a student as possible, using records, testing, interviews, portfolio statements, parent information and behaviour/work habits checklists and anecdotals.
Each person is different - they learn at a different speed and in a different way. I offer 1-1 private sessions with tailor made materials and activities to suit that particular person.
My goal is to help students in high school, college, and university level English courses. I am also able to help students with academic writing for their other courses. Sessions are geared toward specific student needs as determined by the student and myself.
I approach each student with the goal to maximize areas of strength and to support areas of need. In order to succeed, we need to have a partnership build on trust and respect. I customize approach and goals according to what works best for the student. The student's learning, improvement, and academic success are my utmost priorities.
I approach the subject with flexibility and a lose mind because of all the creative aspects of English courses. Literate interpretations are based upon how the reader understands the premises of what is being taught.
My teaching methods are Student Centered, which means what ever the student feels they need help on. I listen to the student and tailor my lessons to fulfill their needs. I am flexible with how I structure my tutor sessions.
I believe that effective education is based in best practices, driven by effective assessment, and focused on the needs of the learner.
My methodology is goal-oriented and focused on the specific needs and requirements of the student. I do not believe in rigid or systematic approaches to learning, but prefer to develop a curriculum and course of action that provides interest and practical application to the learner. I want to work with you to formulate and execute a lesson plan that will be of maximum benefit.
I believe students learn best through hands-on doing. Building confidence through meaningful practice – with descriptive feedback – allows students to build on their foundational skills to succeed. I provide multiple ways for students to learn and practice their skills.
Once I understand where you are in your education, I set up an effective plan to help you achieve your goals; whether it be to complete your homework, pass your tests, improve your reading and writing, or get your diploma.
I base my teaching on students' needs and goals. I believe adult learners should guide their own learning and as a teacher, I develop lessons which address the gaps I perceive in writing, speaking and reading skills. If tutoring is required for a specific English course, lessons would be built around the expectations for that course. I work with students on assignments to ensure success.
I approach learning dynamically based on the needs of my classroom. I love incorporating student interests into my lessons and using student perspectives on the world to scaffold learning across all subjects. My experience in theatre gives me a unique, engaging, and friendly outlook to teaching.
