About the lesson
The music I teach on guitar (acoustic and electric), includes pop, rock, blues, indie, folk and fingerstyle. I create lessons based on what genres and styles my students want to learn, while incorporating all the skills essential to playing the guitar.
My methodology is student focused, and my students' interests, skills, and strengths shape my individualized lesson plans. We will learn the songs and techniques that a student wants to learn, though along a route that also includes the skills and knowledge (ear training, theory, various chords and playing styles) needed to be be a well rounded guitar player and musician.
Most importantly I believe in lessons that are friendly, fun, and respectful, and where both teacher and student can enjoy the joys of music, while consistantly working towards set goals.
*I have several new openings, and am currently accepting new students.
- Acoustic Guitar
- Electric guitar
I am a seasoned guitar player having played for over 10 years and have volunteered as a guitar instructor at several youth organizations as well as teaching professionally.
I have completed the Level 10 certification in Classical Piano and Theory from the Royal Conservatory of Music (hoping to start piano lessons by the end of the year too!) and have a ton of experience playing small live acoustic shows around Toronto ranging from small private events to coffee houses to street festival busking.
I also have nearly a decade of experience working with youth, having worked with children and teens of all ages through several organizations.

Perfect! Arthur is very professional. He is able to guage my skill level and adjust the pace of the lesson plan accordingly. He is not just able to work around my RSI, he helped me inculcate good warmup routines to prevent further stress to my hands. I recommend him !
- See the response Arthur : Dibyendu has been a great student so far, diligently working on the songs and techniques I have been showing him. It has been a pleasure working together!
Perfect! There are musicians that struggle to explain their creative process to the average Joe and then there are musicians like Arthur who are able to break things down into manageable chunks.
As an adult learner, it can sometimes be difficult to openly fail in front of your instructor. Arthur creates an atmosphere that is light hearted and educational for all learners alike. If there is something you do not understand, he is able to provide you with real world examples to help explain the musical concept. If you are slow to grasp the learning material, he is patient and persistent in helping you to understand. He has a solid grasp on using positive reinforcement and will never act condescending toward you even when you incorrectly strum a chord.
Arthur works with his students to understand exactly what they want to learn. His teaching style caters to the student's specific goals and he adds in challenges to ensure a healthy progression of the student's learning.
I would recommend Arthur to anyone who wants a music instructor to be as excited as them about their learning goals.
Perfect! Arthur is a patient, kind and educated tutor. If you are looking for someone great to learn guitar I totally recommend him.
Perfect! My 7-year-old son and I are currently receiving ukulele lessons from our music teacher, Arthur. The experience itself has been so enjoyable, to learn an instrument together as parent and child. Arthur is an expert in his craft! His professionalism, enthusiasm, joy for teaching (and most importantly) his patience; has motivated us to continue on our journey to learn an instrument. I would highly recommend Arthur if you are interested in music lessons (adults and children alike)!
Perfect! Arthur is a fantastic guitar teacher! I started taking lessons with my sister and we began by knowing nothing about playing guitar. Arthur is extremely knowledgeable and tailored the lessons to our musical interests and was very patient along the way. He came right to the house which was convenient and was always well prepared.

He’s also good with working with other people, always thinking about the musicians he plays with. Definitely recommend checking him out.
Arthur is a compassionate and reliable teacher. He takes time to teach without losing patience. Some teachers will easily become agitated when one makes mistakes. However, Arthur is very professional with teaching. He ensures that I make improvements on a step by step basis, and he encourages me to strive towards excellence. Arthur explains ideas very thoroughly to help me have a strong understanding of unfamiliar concepts. He is committed to giving services of various kinds and is devoted to teach. Overall, Arthur's services have been outstanding and absolutely worth it.
WOW, this is the best teacher I have ever had. He always teaches you very well and thorough until you understand, he makes you have fun playing guitar and not a chore. BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
I've known Arthur for a long time. I've always wanted to learn the guitar growing up and he was always eager and dedicated to help me out. He taught me how to play and understand the guitar in ways I couldn't find online in places like youtube and so on. Also, his style of teaching helped me find ways to get through my frustrations of learning it haha. I would definitely recommend!

When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I first started to play guitar in my first year of high school, although it wasn't my first choice. I brought home a huge upright bass, but my mom got angry saying it was way to big to take home from school. The next day I went back and switched to guitar. I fell in love as soon as I tried it. Haha, I'm still grateful that she made me change to this day.
Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
There are a lot of artists I listen to on a regular basis, especially ones playing acoustic and indie folk music. But I like to discover and listen to something new more often than not, and I'm always looking for new jazz, rock, hip-hop, and electronic artists to enjoy too. Variety is one of my favourite things about music!
Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
I think one of the most difficult but rewarding parts of learning music is being able to create your music, either by sitting down and songwriting, or creating in the moment with a jam or solo. I encourage my students to take the things they learn from other songs and make them their own, and though it takes a lot of time and work it's really worth it in the end.
What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
For me the violin seems like a really hard instrument to learn and master, since it doesn't have any frets, and you need to develop a memory of where the notes are. For a guitar player like me it's amazing what violin and other string players can do.
What are your keys to success?
Consistant and thoughtful practice, and finding ways to enjoy everything you do with music are my keys to success. I strongly believe that 15 minutes of good practice a day is worth more than 3 hours of unfocused practice once a week. I also think you need to have fun with the challenge of practice so it never feels like a chore, but becomes one of the best parts of your day.
Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
Three artists I would like to meet are Bjork, Dallas Green, and Olafur Arnards. Each of them makes music with very different instruments, and have different levels of fame, so I'd like to know more about their individual musical processes and lives as musicians since they are all big influences for me.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
I think that just as important as practice and loving music is meeting other musicians to learn and play with. I've made some of my best friends through music in school and shows, and collaborating with other people is one of music's greatest joys.
What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
I always want my students to be enjoying their lessons and practice at home, and while I push them to work and try harder, I always do so in a kind and fun way. Music is meant to be a an enjoyable journey, and I want to help all my students have fun on it!
