About Amy

I have just finished my undergrad, studying English and History at the University of Galway. I graduated with a 71 (1:1) average in English and 67 in History (2:1). I am now studying post primary education in Maynooth. I am very passionate about both of my subjects and love teaching them! I’m studying to be a secondary school teacher and I am very familiar with the junior cert and leaving cert course.

About the lesson

I mostly teach English grinds as they are more popular. However, my school placement this year is mostly focused on teaching history so I’m well equipped to teach both!

I’ve taught many grinds students in the last year, and I like to cater my lessons to the individual needs of each student. I believe in getting to know their student and their learning style so that I can adapt my lessons in a way that will help them shine! I’m very familiar the marking schemes and what is expected of students at junior/leaving cert level and I help students understand where they can earn additional marks.

I take on secondary school students of all capabilities. Having two dyslexic siblings, and having taught students with learning difficulties in the past, I am very committed to helping bring out the best in students no matter what level they’re starting out at!

Perfect! Amy tutored my 15-year-old son, for English, and she has been an absolute gem. Dealing with a typical grumpy teenager can be a challenge, but Amy handled him with incredible patience, accommodation, and thorough preparation.
What I appreciate most about her teaching methods is how well-structured and adaptable she is. She me him at the level he needed and didn’t let him slack off. Thanks to her hard work, his marks and confidence in English have noticeably improved. I couldn't recommend Amy more highly to anyone looking for a truly professional and supportive tutor!
