About Olivia

I am a fourth year Electrical Engineering student but my heart lies with the arts! I am part of a book club and this year alone I've read 26 books (Jan-Nov). I am passionate about literature and strongly believe in the benefits of reading. Even in my engineering degree, I still profit from having strong literacy skills. For example, during an internship I was informed that one of the strongest skills I possess is my ability to communicate my ideas in a clear and concise manner. Let me help you better understand and analyze the world around you (and hopefully inspire you to read more in the process)!

About the lesson

Hi! I've you're looking for help with any English language arts related class, you've reached the right place. Depending on which areas you need help with, I will tailor my lesson plan to best suit your needs! Here are some possible examples of what we can work on together:

- Practice dissecting short stories to prepare for exams (looking for themes and detecting figurative language such as symbolism, metaphors, etc...)
- Correcting student's essays and short stories to help them learn to write more eloquently
- Grammar and conjugation work
- If you need help with a book report, I will gladly read the book to better help you write your essays if I have not already read it (generally takes me 1-3 days to finish a novel)

Believe it or not English is full of formulas. In order to write the perfect essay, all you need to do is follow the same steps given by every teacher and tweak it them little bit. If you look, your teacher will tell you exactly what they want. I can help you learn to spot themes and literary devices in order to satisfy your teacher's specific formula to get you that A!
