About Thoras
With 17 years of drumming experience and a Master’s in Music Education, I bring both professional training and teaching expertise to my lessons. I’ve performed in orchestras, jazz groups, and contemporary bands. These experiences have shaped my understanding of musicality and ensemble playing. My lessons focus on rhythm interpretation, stick control, and balanced technique. I help students understand not only how to play but why certain techniques matter. I believe in teaching students to listen deeply to their own playing. My sessions include a blend of exercises, song work, and creative exploration. I adjust each lesson to fit the student’s personality and goals. Students gain confidence as they master new patterns and rhythms. I encourage questions and open communication during lessons. Consistent practice is emphasized in a positive, achievable way. I use modern teaching methods that keep learning both effective and enjoyable. My teaching space is warm, welcoming, and judgment-free. I work with hobbyists, school performers, and advancing drummers. Seeing students gain confidence is one of my greatest rewards. I am committed to supporting each learner’s musical growth. Together, we’ll build skills that last a lifetime.

My drum lessons are designed to nurture creativity, improvisation, and personal expression alongside technical mastery. Each lesson is customized for the student’s skill level and goals, whether they are beginners exploring rhythms, intermediate learners experimenting with patterns, or advanced drummers exploring complex improvisation. Lessons cover timing, hand independence, stick control, groove, dynamics, rhythm reading, and expressive phrasing.
I incorporate song practice, play-alongs, improvisation challenges, and creative exercises to make lessons engaging and inspiring. Students receive guidance on effective practice, milestone tracking, and goal-setting to ensure measurable improvement. My teaching environment is supportive, positive, and encouraging, allowing students to take creative risks and develop their own style. Lessons emphasize listening skills, musical analysis, and performance application in both solo and ensemble contexts. Students gradually develop technical proficiency, coordination, rhythmic awareness, and expressive ability. Milestones are celebrated to maintain motivation and track progress. Each lesson balances structure with creative freedom to foster independence and personal growth.
Drumming becomes a tool for self-expression, creativity, and emotional communication. Students learn problem-solving skills, musical adaptability, and the ability to combine technique with artistry. Each session is designed to be productive, inspiring, and enjoyable. Students leave with new ideas, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of rhythm.
