About Anderson
Hi, I'm Anderson Garry. I've taught guitar for 6 years, and my specialty is fingerstyle folk and Americana — the kind of playing that supports a story, not just a song. If you're a singer-songwriter who wants more interesting guitar parts, or a player who wants to sound like Jason Isbell, Iron & Wine, or Nick Drake, I'll get you there. We start with alternating thumb patterns — Travis picking — that keep a steady bass line while your fingers play melody and chords on top. Then we add syncopation, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides to make your playing sound vocal, not mechanical. I teach you to arrange songs for solo acoustic: how to find the essential notes, when to let a chord ring, when to add a lead line, and when to leave space. For singers, we work on playing while singing without your rhythm falling apart — coordinating lyrics with finger movements until it feels like one motion. I also teach open tunings (DADGAD, open D, open G) for that rich, expansive folk sound. My lessons are patient, musical, and built around songs with meaning. You'll learn to make your guitar tell a story.
