About Jorge
Hi! I'm Jorge, a recent Applied Mathematics graduate with a concentration in Data Analysis. My background includes calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, real analysis, discrete mathematics, abstract algebra, topology, mathematical statistics, numerical methods, and mathematical modeling, along with Python and scientific computing.
Math is something I genuinely enjoy. I especially love understanding why ideas work, finding connections between different areas, and working through problems that initially seem confusing. That curiosity is a big part of how I approach teaching.
During college, I also participated in mathematical research and collaborative problem solving, which taught me that getting stuck, asking questions, and trying approaches that don't work are normal parts of doing mathematics.
I want my students to feel comfortable saying, “I have no idea what this means.” That's a perfectly good place to start. We'll figure it out together.

I believe the best way to learn math is by doing it—not by watching someone else solve problems for you.
In our lessons, we'll work through problems together. I'll ask questions, give hints when you're stuck, and help you identify the ideas behind each step rather than simply showing you a solution. Making mistakes is part of the process, and I want you to feel comfortable stopping me and asking “why?” whenever something doesn't make sense.
A typical lesson starts with what you're currently working on and where you're getting stuck. From there, we'll identify any gaps in understanding, work through examples together, and gradually shift more of the problem solving to you.
I especially enjoy helping students with calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, as well as Python and NumPy. My lessons are primarily for high school and college STEM students, whether you're struggling with a course, preparing for an exam, or simply want to understand the material more deeply.
My goal is simple: I don't want you to memorize how I solved the problem. I want you to reach the point where you can solve the next one without me.
