About Ashley
Usually, the joy stems from watching a student refine their tone production until it truly resonates. It is midway through a shift that the music begins to feel effortless. Drawing on 13 years of performance, I guide grade exam candidates through ABRSM and Trinity requirements with surgical precision. We calibrate posture and hold to ensure endurance.
Orchestral playing, sight reading, and music theory are integrated alongside scales and arpeggios. Tuning by ear becomes second nature once we establish these fundamental habits. Students focusing on performance receive free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson.
The physical mechanics support the expressive goals. We keep the momentum steady.

Sharing the nuance of the violin remains my primary motivation. It is a quiet truth that I find my own clarity while helping others navigate the bridge between technique and artistry.
Balancing a role in a leading Canadian chamber ensemble with a busy Ottawa studio keeps me grounded. I work with students from RCM Grade 1 through Grade 10 levels.
Over the years, I have supported countless musicians in their growth. My dual focus on performance and pedagogy informs every interaction. I treat each student as an individual musician. The process is simply part of the work.
