About Gabrielle
I am a Lecturer in Photography with a BA in Photography from Nottingham Trent University and an MA in Contemporary Photography from Central Saint Martins. I am an enthusiastic, engaged tutor who values clarity, curiosity, and confidence in learning.
Alongside teaching on a Photography degree, I maintain an active artistic practice, ensuring my teaching is informed by current research, experimentation, and making.
I have extensive professional experience in photographic production and imaging, and I specialise in university preparation, portfolio and project development, and technical skills. I also have experience supporting ASD and neurodivergent adults through structured, clear, and supportive one-to-one teaching.

Approach & Teaching Method
My teaching is structured, critical, and student-led, designed to build confidence, clarity, and independence. I begin by identifying the learner’s goals, level, and preferred way of working, then shape sessions around clear outcomes. Teaching balances discussion, visual analysis, practical demonstration, and focused feedback, with an emphasis on helping students articulate why they are making work, not just how.
I place strong emphasis on project development, critical thinking, and visual literacy, alongside solid technical foundations. Sessions are calm, direct, and purposeful, with space to slow down or break tasks into manageable stages where needed.
I have experience working with ASD and neurodivergent adults, and adapt pacing, communication style, and structure to support focus, clarity, and confidence.
Lesson Length
Lessons typically last 60–90 minutes, depending on needs and concentration levels. Longer-term students often work towards clear milestones such as portfolios, assessments, or sustained projects.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a Lecturer in Photography, with a BA in Photography from Nottingham Trent University and an MA in Contemporary Photography from Central Saint Martins.
Alongside academia, I have extensive professional experience in photographic production and imaging, giving me strong technical expertise and insight into professional workflows and standards. This allows me to support both academic and industry-facing goals.
