About Elisabeth

I am a French speaking artist, and have been drawing since my early childhood. (I still feel my immense joy when I saw for the first time my mother draw (a little girl rope jumping), and still have the first drawing I made at 3.) I have worked as an illustrator for Canada's editors, have had many exhibitions, solo and groups, in Montreal, Toronto and Paris, and have accompanied artists with mental disabilities in their creation for 30 years. For 10 years now I have been doing etchings and lithographies and am a member of Atelier Circulaire in Montreal. I love helping people discover their artistic gifts, and my best reward is witnessing their joy and pride in front of their work. For me it is also important to encourage students not to be afraid to go forward, to explore, and to give all they have to give. Here is a letter from the mother of one of my student: "My son has been taking art courses with Elisabeth for about a year now. He felt at ease from the beginning with her, due to her calm, welcoming stance. She provides him advice and guidance in a delicate, positive and validating way, always respectful of his own creative process and rhythm. He has learnt to become a better observer, to manipulate different mediums, to train his body to become a better instrument at the service of creative movements and techniques. I find my son lucky to have the opportunity to share these calm and centered creative moments with such a talented and experienced artist as Elisabeth. About the lesson

I start each class with observation drawing, asking the student to only look at the model, as a way to learn to look. And I teach pen and Indian ink drawing, watercolor, oil pastel, painting. I like to listen and align my teaching to the student's desire, and to encourage her/him to go deeper in her/his creation. The aim is not perfection but doing our very best, and enjoy. I am relaxed, attentive to the student's personality, respectful of their needs/desires and have a good sense of humor. I love to help people realize they can do (beautiful) art and how much fun, liberating and healing the creation process is. My class is for children from 7 to 77 who like to do art and need some guidance. French or English.

I provide the basic material, meaning: pen and ink, oil pastels, watercolor, pencils, brushes, paper. I also provide oil paint/acrylics, canvas, brushes for the first class; if student wants to go on with this medium, she/he brings it for further classes.
