About Mark
I really love good acting and I'm committed to the journeys of all my students in their acting endeavours.

I like to make my sessions as fun and enjoyable as possible; creating a safe space where I can provoke thought, challenge and inspire you to look beyond the obvious surface choices and instead develop a more layered practice where you can make brave choices, ask new questions and build complex characters,
I'm reliable, honest and driven in my goals and I have huge experience across Stage & Screen having worked with some of the worlds leading actors, directors, writers and producers.

My acting teaching is rooted in naturalism by means of championing truth & playfulness across rehearsals & performance.
The importance of 'staying on thought' is key to my practice as a means to keep the actor fixed in the present, focused on their targets, and fully invested in their objectives.
Furthermore, I believe actors are regularly held back by their 'headspace' ; A performative overthinking which can lead to a failure to commit to brave choices in their work. We can only make brave choices as actors if we develop and accept a willingness to fail in our practice. One which allows us to find rewards in making mistakes.
I use a variety of techniques and exercises to help promote freedom & play in performance; encouraging actors to think outside of the box, create in depth back story and break repetitive bad habits. The fundamentals of my practice revolve around the basic principles of acting; listen & respond.
Most importantly I encourage actors to find their own enjoyment in their creative decisions. Empowering an actors individuality is vital in discovering where their strengths lie and my work is always focussed towards showcasing those very talents.
I regularly use improvisation and Meisner techniques in my practice to help unlock an actors emotional range and enhance confidence in their storytelling abilities. As an experienced writer too, I promote the benefits of thinking from the writers perspective too, aswell as the audiences too. This way we can help to bring the whole environment in to the scene.
I have over 10 years experience working with young actors; designing and delivering acting workshops and courses as an associate artist for the National Youth Theatre of GB where I work as a director, tutor, writer, mentor and auditioner.
I have taught a variety of acting practices in Drama Schools, Universities, Youth Theatres, Community projects, Social Inclusion courses, PRUs, SEN schools& corporate spaces.
As a private acting coach, between 2021-2024, I have an 87% success rate of helping young people obtain places at some of the most prestigious drama schools in the world.
I work with actors from all backgrounds, of all ages & levels of experience. I actively celebrate difference and believe everyone deserves their chance to explore the benefits of acting and find the incredible range of transformative & transferable skills it can generate.
I teach acting for stage and screen using an extensive collection of acting scripts, literature, materials and resources.
