About Estelle
Hello! I’m Estelle, a friendly and supportive English tutor with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for helping students grow in confidence and ability.
My own educational journey has taken me from primary school to grammar school for both secondary school and sixth form, where I developed strong skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking. I later received university offers from London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London, University of Warwick, and University of Birmingham before choosing to pursue a solicitor apprenticeship while completing my law degree, where I have maintained a consistent First-Class academic average. . In recognition of my academic and professional progress, I was also awarded Apprentice of the Year in 2026.
Throughout school and university I was actively involved in mock trials, debate, and legal competitions, which helped develop my ability to analyse ideas, construct strong arguments, and communicate clearly — skills that translate directly into strong essay writing and English exam performance.
Alongside my studies, I have experience tutoring students across a wide range of ages and abilities. I have previously taught through organisations such as Explore Learning and Study Mind, as well as tutoring students independently.
I have supported:
• Primary school students
• Secondary school and GCSE students
• Students preparing for 7+, 11+, and 13+ exams
• Non-native English speakers
• Students with learning disabilities and additional learning needs
This experience has helped me develop a patient, adaptable teaching style, allowing lessons to suit each student’s confidence level, learning style, and pace.

My lessons are structured, interactive, and personalised to each student’s needs. I focus on building the core English skills that allow students to write clearly, think critically, and perform well in exams.
Each lesson is tailored depending on whether the student is preparing for 7+, 11+, 13+, GCSE English, or general writing improvement.
1. Vocabulary Building
A strong vocabulary is essential for success in English exams. Students work with a regular vocabulary list, learning definitions, spelling, and how to use new words effectively in their writing.
We practise applying these words in sentences, essays, and discussion so they become part of the student’s natural writing style.
2. Grammar and Sentence Development
Many students struggle to turn their ideas into clear sentences. I focus on helping students understand grammar, sentence flow, and paragraph structure, so they can communicate their thoughts clearly and confidently.
3. Essay Writing and Structure
Students learn how to structure essays effectively, including:
• planning ideas
• building strong arguments
• analysing texts
• writing clear introductions and conclusions
This is particularly helpful for 11+, 13+, and GCSE English exams.
4. Speaking and Thinking Skills
Students are encouraged to explain their ideas aloud before writing. This helps them organise their thoughts and develop stronger arguments.
Building verbal confidence often leads to better writing and clearer thinking.
5. Self-Evaluation and Exam Technique
Students learn how to evaluate their own work using simplified mark schemes. This teaches them exactly what examiners look for and helps them understand how to improve their marks independently.
6. Structured Online Lessons
Lessons are conducted online in a focused and engaging way. I use structured activities and discussion to maintain attention and minimise distractions, ensuring students stay actively involved throughout the session.
A Supportive Learning Environment
I believe students perform best when they feel comfortable and supported. My lessons are friendly and encouraging, allowing students to try, make mistakes, and improve without pressure.
Over time, this helps students develop confidence, independence, and stronger academic writing skills.
