About Erica
Whether you are a child with a big dream, auditioning for school, just starting out or feeling stuck professionally - I've been in your shoes!
I started acting in musical theatre when I was 6 years old. I graduated from the entrance by audition Canterbury Arts High School Drama program winning the Drama award 4 years in a row. I went on to audition for over 10 conservatory programs in the UK and Canada, being accepted into my dream school: The National Theatre School of Canada with only 10 others, graduating with the Tullio Cedraschi Award for The student who best exemplifies the mission of NTS.
Professionally I have worked across Canada. Credits include Vought Rising, Clarice, What We Do in The Shadows, Murdoch Mysteries, The Baroness Von Sketch Show, Gracie, Lo (or Dear Mr Wells).
I got into coaching when I was asked to return to Canterbury to be a monologue coach for the graduating acting students, and I fell in love with teaching. I have since coached over 150 students on monologues, whether they are preparing for an audition for school or taking these important communication tools to further themselves in any career. I have worked with numerous arts organizations to direct children aged 1-20 in movement, voice, text, imagination and direct full musicals! I have been a dedicated weekly coach to numerous emerging artists looking to prepare for theatre school auditions or enhance their professional work and audition process. As an actor I have hit the roadblocks myself be it anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism and worked through them to get back to the actual work and joy of performing! I pride myself on being able to help my students do the same.

Are you nervous about preparing for an audition? Do you need a monologue and don't know where to start? Do you have a pipe dream acting school you are trying to get into? Are you feeling stuck in your scene work and looking for a fresh approach? Are you a parent/guardian trying to help your child navigate auditioning and don't know where to start?

MY FOCUSES INCLUDE:
- MONOLOGUE COACHING (what makes a good audition monologue, where to find it, how to break it down & perform it)
- SCENE WORK FOR STAGE AND SCREEN (how to break down a scene, emotional preparation, physical preparation, connecting with your scene partner and being open to the unexpected!)
- AUDITION PREP: POST SECONDARY, HIGH SCHOOL ARTS PROGRAMS & PROFESSIONAL WORK (We will break down the entire audition process make sure you feel ready for anything)
- SELF TAPING (ensuring you have a proper setup, script analysis and how to show up honestly for the camera)
- IMAGINATION (If you see it we, the audience, see it! In the age of social media let me help you go back to your most powerful resource, your own imagination!)
- CONFIDENCE BOOSTING! (for adult and children performers, my classes are rigorous in technique but fun, supportive and collaborative. You will always receive feedback on what you are doing well and pushed to take that further, critique is always tangible and followed with actionable exercises and steps you can take to adjust both in and outside of class.)
ONLINE or IN PERSON: Coaching is available on Google Meet or Zoom as well as in person at my home studio in Toronto or Ottawa.
With over 15 years experience as a professional actor on stage and screen, and graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and Canterbury Arts High School, with 6 years of teaching experience from toddlers to emerging professional actors - I am passionate about helping performers of all ages feel ready to bring themselves and their work to every room.
