About Lauren

I am an award-winning violinist and music performance major with over 9 years of teaching experience working with students of different ages and skill levels. My teaching style combines strong classical foundations with a supportive and personalized approach designed to help students grow both technically and musically.

Throughout my musical career, I have received recognition in multiple national and international competitions in South Korea, including 1st Place in the Rising Star National Strings Concerto Competition, 1st Place Congressional Award in an International Music Competition, and 2nd Place in the KCM International Strings Competition. I was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Young Artist Concerto Competition.

In addition to competition experience, I have held leadership and performance roles including Concertmaster of the Paju Community Orchestra and Concertmaster/Associate Concertmaster of the Goyang City Youth Orchestra. I have also performed as a pianist and coordinator for concerts and community music events throughout South Korea.

As a teacher, I focus on helping students develop strong technique, musical confidence, healthy practice habits, and a genuine appreciation for music. I strive to create lessons that are encouraging, structured, and adapted to each student’s individual goals and learning style.

I offer virtual violin lessons for beginner to advanced students, including students preparing for auditions, competitions, orchestra placements, or personal musical growth.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered around building strong technical foundations while also helping students develop confidence, musicality, and genuine enjoyment for playing the violin. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to each individual’s goals, experience level, and learning style rather than using a single rigid method for everyone.

As a music performance major, award-winning violinist, and teacher with 9 years of teaching experience, I combine classical training with a supportive and encouraging teaching style. I have won multiple national competitions as well as an international competition, and I enjoy helping students grow both technically and artistically.

A typical lesson may include:
• Warm-ups and posture/technique exercises
• Scale work and intonation development
• Bow technique and tone production
• Repertoire and musical interpretation
• Sight-reading, rhythm training, and ear development
• Practice strategies designed for efficient improvement between lessons

I focus heavily on creating healthy practice habits and helping students understand how to practice effectively rather than simply repeating passages. My goal is to help students become independent and confident musicians over time.

Lessons are open to:
• Beginner to advanced violin students
• Children, teens, and adult learners
• Students preparing for auditions, competitions, or orchestra placements
• Students looking to strengthen technique, musical expression, or performance confidence
• Beginners interested in building a strong classical foundation

All lessons are conducted virtually and adapted to the student’s pace, interests, and individual goals.
