About Chris Alexander

Dedicated & passionate awarding-winning Lead Designer and Art Director who has over 13 years of design industry experience. Learning from the bottom up and working my way up the design chain has given me a deep understanding of the challenges a designer faces daily.

About the lesson

The areas of design I focus on and teach include
Advertising / Branding / Digital Design / Ideation / Illustration & Typography.

Over the last thirteen years or so I have mentored many design interns. To see them develop their own styles during this time and watched  them grow into mature and capable designers is  something I am passionate about and very grateful for.

Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?
Yes, it was way back at primary school way back in the late 80s, OMG.
What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?
Getting an Apple Macbook Pro, it was amazing how powerful this little machine was.
Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.
I use my computer for all my design based projects on a daily basis. I couldn't live without my Mac. 😔
Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?
No not as such, I do have a soft spot for Steve Jobs though, as he is the founder of Apple and a true visionary. Being a designer I use Apple products daily.
What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?
Give it a go. You won't regret it.
What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?
Art, design, drawing and reading.
