About Rick Tienson
I don’t just teach math, physics, linear algebra, and machine learning — I live them. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nanotechnology (2024) and am currently pursuing a master's degree, which means I solve advanced quantitative problems every single day. My academic background gives me a rare bridge between pure theory (linear algebra, calculus) and real-world applications (machine learning models, nanoscale physics).
But degrees alone don't make a great tutor. What does? Structure, empathy, and reliability.
Every lesson follows a clear, proven methodology: warm-up → core concept → guided practice → real-world project → review. No surprises, no wasted time. I use patient, anxiety-aware pacing — I never shame a “slow” question. In fact, I celebrate it. My two-question rule guarantees you understand before we move on. I also teach exam strategies that actually work: time management, common mistake patterns, and reverse-engineering problems. I've helped anxious students raise their grades by showing them how to study smarter, not just harder.
About the lesson

All languages in which the lesson is available :
English
I blend constructivist learning (building new knowledge on what the student already knows) with scaffolded instruction breaking complex topics into small, manageable steps.
A typical lesson plan
1. Warm‑up
2. Core concept
3. Guided practice
4. Independent work
5. Application / project
6. Review & homework
What Sets Me Apart
Nanotechnology + Master’s perspective – I see maths and physics as tools to engineer solutions at the atomic scale, which makes abstract topics feel tangible.
Machine learning & linear algebra together – Most tutors separate them. I show how linear algebra powers every ML algorithm .
Anxiety‑informed pacing – I offer a “two‑question rule”: after any explanation, the student must ask at least two questions before I move on. This builds confidence and slows down rushing.
Who These Lessons Are For
Middle school & high school students
Undergraduates – First‑ and second‑year university students
Aspiring ML learners – Anyone who knows basic coding but feels lost in the maths.
Special cases – Students who need exam prep (SATs, AP Physics, linear algebra finals) or help bridging from high school to university level.
