About Flavian

As a Bartlett-trained, RIBA/ARB-qualified architect, I bring together academic insight, professional experience and a strong focus on visual storytelling.

I completed both my Part 1 and Part 2 architectural education at The Bartlett School of Architecture, followed by my Part 3 qualification at the University of Westminster.

You can also view selected work and visual projects on my website (concealed information) .

Alongside this academic background, I have almost 10 years of experience in the field, working across internationally recognised architecture and creative studios including Foster + Partners, WilkinsonEyre and Es Devlin.

Through this experience, I have been exposed to a wide range of projects across architecture, public realm, cultural design, transport, retail, installation and spatial storytelling — from detailed technical coordination to highly conceptual, atmospheric design.

Alongside practice, I have experience mentoring architecture students, teaching at summer schools and participating as a visiting critic at design reviews. This has shaped the way I support students: with clear, constructive feedback that helps them understand both the conceptual strength of their work and the practical steps needed to improve it.

My background has shaped the way I approach architecture. I believe strong design work needs both clarity and imagination. A good project should have a clear idea, a thoughtful process, beautiful communication and a convincing narrative. This is especially important for students, where the strength of a portfolio is not just about polished images, but about showing how you think.

I have a particular interest in representation, mood, animation and time-based presentation. I enjoy helping students find the best way to communicate their ideas — whether through drawings, diagrams, renders, portfolio layouts, short films, animations or more atmospheric forms of visual storytelling.

I know how challenging architecture school can feel: the pressure of deadlines, crits, complex briefs, unclear feedback and the constant need to produce work that is both intelligent and visually compelling. My aim as a tutor is to help students cut through that confusion, understand what their project is really about, and develop work that feels clearer, more confident and more ambitious.

I am friendly, honest and constructive in my feedback. I will help you identify the strongest parts of your work, understand what needs improvement, and build a practical plan to move forward. Rather than imposing a fixed style, I want to help you develop your own design voice and communicate it with confidence.

Hello, and welcome to my online architecture tutoring.

I offer online architecture tutoring for students who want to strengthen their portfolios, design studio projects and university applications.

My lessons are designed to help you clarify your ideas, improve your design process, develop stronger drawings and presentations, and communicate your work with confidence.

I can support you with portfolio reviews, concept development, design tutorials, crit preparation, university applications, CVs, cover letters, interviews, layout, diagrams and visual communication. I can also help with the more technical and digital side of architecture, including drawing production, modelling, rendering, presentation strategy and workflow.

My software experience includes Adobe Suite, Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max, V-Ray and Enscape. Depending on your goals, I can help you improve how you use these tools to develop and present your work more effectively — from technical drawings and atmospheric renders to portfolio layouts, animations, videos and time-based presentations.

My approach is tailored to each student. We will start by understanding your goals, deadlines and current work, then create a clear plan for what needs to improve and how to get there. This might mean refining your concept, restructuring your portfolio, improving drawings, developing a stronger visual language, preparing for a crit, or shaping a university application that feels distinctive and personal.

I believe the best architecture portfolios are not just visually polished — they are coherent, intelligent and well-communicated. Strong work needs a clear idea, a convincing narrative, thoughtful research, spatial intelligence and a presentation style that supports the project.

Rather than imposing a fixed style, I will help you sharpen your own design voice, make better design decisions and present your work in a way that feels ambitious, professional and authentic to you.

Lessons can include live portfolio reviews, design tutorials, layout feedback, presentation coaching, software and workflow advice, technical guidance, animation/video presentation support and practical tasks between sessions. My aim is to help you work smarter, make faster progress and feel more confident in both your design process and your final presentation.
