Sono una cantante e ho suonato musica in un contesto professionale con Massimo, che è un bassista, per diversi anni. Abbiamo suonato insieme dal vivo, come parte di una band, alla Royal Festival Hall di Londra e alla BBC 2 Radio, oltre a molti festival e concerti musicali europei e britannici. Massimo non solo è un grande musicista e maestro del suo mestiere al basso, ma porta anche competenze specifiche, che lo rendono un ottimo insegnante. Ha l'abilità di spiegare e mostrare chiaramente come suonare lo strumento e può anche trasmettere il sentimento e lo stile musicali che sono così centrali per fare musica autentica. Conosco Massimo da molto tempo. La sua pazienza e dedizione all’ascolto degli allievi sono gli elementi piu preziosi per l’efficacia del suo insegnamento. Abbiamo suonato qualche volta insieme (io non sono un professionista…) e ricordo molto bene la sua tecnica e la sua semplicità con cui mi ha spiegato passaggi difficili.

I would 100% recommend Massimo as a Bass teacher. I am a singer/songwriter from England who played with Massimo in a band for over ten years. He is an exceptional bass player and his bass parts really elevated many of my songs to another level. For example he knows when to play less (which I feel is an criminally underrated skill as a musician), when to add texture and warmth and when to drive the song rhythmically. My timing in the beginning of the band was not the best but he taught me how to keep in time and lock into the groove of the song. He was also really patient with me when teaching me technical stuff or musical theory that I didn’t know. I was self taught so I often struggled with communicating musically what I wanted to do but he often translated what I wanted with ease, both to me and to the rest of the band. If you are looking for a bass teacher to teach you all the technical aspects he can do this with ease, succinctly and professionally, but personally I feel that the biggest strength he has as a bassist that he can teach you is his intuition on how to ‘feel’ a song, how to understand what a song needs, how your bass parts can and will influence in bringing a song to life! For me this then means that playing music does not become a dry theoretical thing but a joyful expression of your own creativity, which is exactly what playing music should be, to enjoy playing, to enjoy the creative process and ultimately to use your bass knowledge and skills to hopefully make some great songs! Having played with Massimo for over a decade I can confidently say that he is not only a great bass player but also a really kind and thoughtful person. I’ve no doubt that he will make you feel comfortable and relaxed but will also push you when needed so that his lessons are not only fun and productive but challenging too.

Se stai cercando un insegnante di basso che ti insegni tutti gli aspetti tecnici, può farlo con facilità, in modo succinto e professionale, ma personalmente sento che la forza più grande che ha come bassista che può insegnarti è la sua intuizione su come 'sentire' una canzone, come capire di cosa ha bisogno una canzone, come le tue parti di basso possono e influenzeranno nel dare vita a una canzone! Per me questo significa che suonare non diventa un'arida cosa teorica ma un'espressione gioiosa della propria creatività, che è esattamente ciò che dovrebbe essere suonare musica, divertirsi a suonare, godersi il processo creativo e infine usare la propria conoscenza del basso e abilità per fare, si spera, delle belle canzoni! Avendo suonato con Massimo per oltre un decennio posso dire con certezza che non è solo un grande bassista ma anche una persona davvero gentile e premurosa. Non ho dubbi che ti farà sentire a tuo agio e rilassato, ma ti spingerà anche quando necessario in modo che le sue lezioni non siano solo divertenti e produttive, ma anche stimolanti.

I have had the pleasure of playing with Massi in a London based folk/classical/world music band for several years. He is a fantastic player, comes up with great parts and is always sensitive to the needs of each particular piece. I really miss playing with him! I am sure he is a fantastic teacher too! Highly recommended.
