About Paul
From the "Meet the Artists" page, Symphonina Foundation (2023):
"Paul Lazarus (violin, India) is a passionate musician and amateur composer from the city of Chennai. A self-taught player, he started learning the violin in 2012 and, after a decade of playing, switched careers from psychology to be a full-time violinist and freelance composer. He has performed at charity events and gigs. He is currently based in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, where he teaches private violin lessons (both online and in person) and records music from his home studio. His biggest inspiration as a violinist is Fritz Kreisler’s 1926 recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto."

Each lesson gives you 45 minutes of enriching insights and guidance that I have collected through my experience of teaching students from all over the world. From the basics of posture, fundamental scales, techniques, interpretation, and music theory, you will enjoy a rich experience with every lesson as I put in a lot of effort for each of my students.
I will guide you through the various steps, starting from a complete beginner, until you're able to play the most beautiful pieces on your own.
My aim as your tutor will be to help you become a violinist according to your own goals, while at the same time offering you the structure you need to grow. I follow the Suzuki books for the pieces, but the pedagogy used is an eclectic one that is inspired by Galamian, Simon Fischer, and insights from my own experience as a tutor.
Two small requirements from my side:
1. Minimum age of 14 years.
2. Please practice between lessons.

Paul sir is really great. I like his patience while teaching, especially when I mess up so badly. He never frowns and is always kind enough to teach. The best.
Paul is a great instructor.
I have a busy schedule and am not able to practice often, but I still am able to make good progress because he's so patient and thorough in making sure I understand and learn well.
He gives so many additional tips and instructions that make it easier to learn even online.
He clarifies and answers any and every question.
Paul is so very encouraging, and that makes me feel very motivated.
He is able to point out mistakes gently and helps correct them without the pressure of criticism.
His lesson plans are very systematic and easy to follow.
He's a great teacher.
I'm glad I started my violin lessons with him.Paul is a very professional teacher. He's very patient and polite in teaching, focuses on the basics very well and is extremely proficient with a violin. He encourages good practices which leads to better results in the longer run.
Highly recommend.I’ve had a great experience learning violin with Paul sir. He explains techniques very clearly and is very patient during lessons. His guidance has helped me improve my bow control, posture, and overall confidence while playing. The classes are always encouraging and motivating.
I have been taking classes from paul quite some time. From nt able to hold a bow and playing squeaky voice have come a long way to play few songs.
Considering my busy schedule i have seen him to be extremely patient and polite in teaching. No rushing of classes. Also i have seen in some sessions he analyses if we are facing any issues in grasping the class he takes step by step in a way we can grasp it easily. He is the best tutor one can have.
Paul is an exceptional violin tutor who is adept at patiently listening, explaining, and motivating me throughout my learning journey.
