About Chad

Hey I'm Chad! I’ve been playing acoustic and electric guitar for over 15 years in groups and as a solo musician. My training includes years of formal lessons and continued self-directed learning. Outside of music, I work as a tech consultant in the responsible AI sphere, and am into hockey, tennis, and skiing

Music has always been a big part of my life, and I love sharing that passion with others. I enjoy talking music from across genres (classic rock, folk, blues, metal, country, pop, hip-hop, jazz - you name it!) and breaking down songs. My favorite artists include classic acts like Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and Joni Mitchell, alternative bands like Radiohead and The Cure, and indie acts like Geese and The Antlers. My teaching focus is on building confidence, good habits, and a solid foundation so students feel comfortable picking up the guitar on their own.

I take teaching seriously but am a firm believer in keeping lessons relaxed and supportive. I aim to be reliable, clear, and encouraging, and to make learning guitar something students genuinely look forward to. About the lesson

My approach to teaching guitar balances learning the songs you love with building the fundamentals that let you keep improving on your own and write your own music. Lessons are structured but flexible, and adapt to your interests, goals, and learning style.

We focus on core skills like chord theory, scales, rhythm and strumming, timing, and reading tabs, and apply them directly to the music you’re into. A typical lesson might include a technique warmup, learning or refining a song, breaking down the theory behind what you’re playing, and exploring improvisation and soloing to build confidence and creativity.

What sets my teaching apart is the emphasis on connecting theory to real playing. Instead of just memorizing shapes or patterns, you’ll understand why things work, which helps you move around the fretboard more freely and progress faster. I’m a multi-genre musician and happy to work in whatever style or songs you’re excited about.

Lessons are best suited for beginner to intermediate players, whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time, returning after a break, or looking to deepen your skills. My goal is to make learning guitar enjoyable, build a strong foundation, and help you grow into a confident, independent musician.
