I have known Prof. Salim since 2019 when I took the Materials and Methods of Building course with him at Qatar University. It was one of the most beneficial courses I took, as I got to learn about construction techniques, finish works, and different types of materials and construction systems. Prof. Salim is a walking architecture encyclopedia, he taught me a great deal. He enjoys assisting others and sharing his vast knowledge. He is one of the most dedicated and passionate teachers I've ever had. As a student, I was extremely fortunate to take a course with him. Prof. Salim was also extremely helpful with my senior project, and he was always willing to answer all of my questions.

I have been knowing and collaborating with Dr. Ferwati since 2015. He is a hardworking, dedicated, talented, and well-known professor in his field of research. My professional experience with him started with writing several research funds (matching grants and government grants - e.g., Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF)) and conducting several research projects. Working with Dr. Ferwati, we benefited from his creativity and critical thinking skills. As a result, we worked incredibly productively. In 2016, we became the Green Research Nominee of the Qatar Sustainability Award by Qatar Green Building Council, Qatar.

Dr. Ferwati is very active and punctual. He is a professional in managing and working individually and with the team. He also works well with the rest of the team and fostered positive relations among the team members. His talent and knowledge in research are undoubted. I admire his achievements and accomplishments, especially in publishing in high-impact ISI-indexed journals, such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews (IF:14.98), Sustainable Cities and Society (IF: 7.58), Journal of Building Engineering (IF: 5.31). So, the impact and benefit of his research are not comparable. His citation record for these selected journals (100+) is the main metric indicator of impact and benefit in science, demonstrating his successful publication achievements. Looking at research keywords (at his Google scholar profile), you can easily see he is an internationally top researcher in ‘Semiotics,’ ‘Biomimicry,’ and ‘Eco-district’ in architecture and urban studies. As a result, you can see his network of co-authors is more than 15 high-ranked and active scholars around the globe, making him a unique and valuable asset to the Canadian nation.

In addition, considering his almost 20 years of post-Ph.D. experience, he has shown brilliant outperformance in teaching courses with impactful and beneficial research in education. Dr. Ferwati has an amazing sense of restraint and balance that allows this to work in his favor. He has a strong sense of responsibility to the students to take their success as his success. He would engage students and elicit reactions to material that students would normally not react to. Also, it is important to note that Dr. Ferwati is extremely committed to practicing blended learning in different modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online methods.

Prof.Salim is one of the greatest teachers I had throughout my architecture journey. He taught me from year 1 to year 3. The most important thing about him is that he have a wide experience that spans over years of teaching and working in different countries. He is very knowledgeable, we as students would go and ask him even in courses he did not offer and he was always there to help. He structures the lesson very effectively, he adds to the information his real life experiences. Until today, his instructions are my guide whenever I design my projects. I recommend Prof. Salim to anyone who wants knowledge enriched with his experience!

Dr Salim was one of my favorite Drs at Qatar university, he was very informative about all different aspects of architecture , environmental aspect, detailed drawings aspect and structure etc..
He was also very helpful and kind, we can easily ask him anything without hesitation.
He knew how to communicate with the students well.
He also saw the good in every student and knew the differences between us and pushed eash one of us to the limit because he saw what each one of us is capable off.
