About Kelvin
I'm a bilingual teacher of English and Cantonese. Growing up in Hong Kong, I have mastered the Cantonese language, which is believed to be one of the hardest languages in the world. Later, I immigrated to Canada, where I finished my Bachelor's degree in English and a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate at York University. After my studies, I worked in a junior high school in Japan for as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) for one year. Currently, I am completing my graduate studies in Teaching English to Young Learners at University of Warsaw in Poland. I have taught English and Cantonese to learners of different age groups including elementary school students and adults in many international settings. I have also volunteered and worked as an English tutor in both Europe and Japan, and my professional experience has helped me gain essential international insights into language teaching.

My lessons are completely learner-centered, which means they mainly focus on your personal learning goals and progress. At the beginning of our course you will be asked a few questions about your reasons for learning English or Cantonese and what you hope to achieve in your life with this language. We will also determine which area(s) you hope to improve or reinforce, whether it is vocabulary, grammar, reading, speaking, listening, writing, or conversation in general. Before starting a new lesson, we will review some general concepts covered by the previous lesson, and then determine if we will move on to the next topic or if more practice is required. Instead of a typical English "lesson" which focuses solely on grammar and vocabulary drills, my lessons are completely interactive. You will gain confidence in your language skills through interactive games, practical speaking tasks and engaging with real-world learning materials.
