About Marissa
Hi! I’m a university student studying Biological Sciences at MacEwan University, and I know firsthand that math can sometimes feel overwhelming. I want to help students feel more confident in their abilities and show them that math doesn’t have to be as intimidating as it seems!
I’m patient, approachable, and happy to explain things in different ways until they click. I believe everyone learns at their own pace, so I tailor my approach to each student’s needs and make sure they feel comfortable asking questions. Whether you need help with homework, preparing for an upcoming test, or building a stronger foundation in math, I’m here to help!
I offer friendly, personalized tutoring for students up to Grade 10, with a focus on making math easier to understand, building confidence, and helping students succeed in the classroom.

My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and focused on helping students actually understand math rather than just memorize steps. I like to break down difficult concepts into smaller, easier pieces and work through examples together until the student feels comfortable solving problems on their own. I encourage questions and make sure students never feel embarrassed about not understanding something.
A typical lesson starts with reviewing what the student is currently learning in class and identifying anything they’re struggling with. We’ll go through examples step by step, practice similar questions together, and then work toward solving problems independently. I’ll adjust each lesson to the student’s pace and focus on the areas where they need the most help.
As a university student myself, I understand how frustrating math can feel sometimes, and I want to make learning a less stressful experience. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students can build confidence, learn from mistakes, and see their progress.
My lessons are for elementary and junior high students, as well as high school students up to Grade 10. I can help with homework, reviewing class material, preparing for tests, and strengthening foundational math skills.
