About Ursula
Silence remains the most important tool in any musician’s repertoire. Most players focus purely on speed, yet I insist on precise strumming patterns and controlled power chords. My lessons accommodate grade exam candidates and kids alike by turning song requests into simplified arrangements. I draw upon my BMus background to explain why a certain chord change works in a pop song or a jazz standard.
We spend hours dissecting the nuances of rhythm. You will find my feedback is exacting but always supportive of your development. I utilize my 13 years of experience to ensure no student feels overwhelmed by complex theory.
My goal is to make your practice sessions feel like a natural extension of your daily life. I believe in maintaining a clear, steady pace for all learners. You can expect a logical progression through every stage of our work.

Sometimes I find it strange to think I have spent 13 years teaching guitar since my own early conservatory days. I admit that music theory once seemed like a daunting puzzle until I learned to break it down.
My BMus from the Toronto Faculty of Music provided the framework for my understanding of scales, modes, and blues progressions. I enjoy working with grade exam candidates and advanced learners who want to master improvisation and soloing. Songwriting and acoustic technique are also regular fixtures in my studio.
Kids and self-taught players frequently join my sessions to find the missing structure in their playing. Perhaps you might join me for an introductory meeting soon.
