About Paresh
I am a teacher and researcher, who has worked in various universities in the world. In general, I have taught courses like botany, ecology, environmental sciences, and ecosystem planning to students at school to graduate students. From my perspective, the most important aspect of teaching is that students learn and retain information, develop critical analytical skills stimulated by the subject matter. My concern for students and their learning is expressed in many ways;
1. I ensure that my courses are updated regularly to include current readings, evaluation of new textbooks, and an annual review of my illustrations. I keep myself up-to-date in the areas of
my professional and teaching interests and try to utilize the newest teaching strategies and technologies. Also, I use familiar examples to students so they can conceptualize the concepts.
2. I conduct mid-term evaluations of my courses at least three times to assess how well the students are progressing.
3. I keep open office hours and encourage students to drop by at any time; besides I give freedom to them to communicate with me by e-mails, web-CT and BLS. Also, I believe that even one face-to-face meeting with a student can make a great difference to their attitude and expectations.
