About Marlie
Hello! My name is Marlie, and I am a certified Alberta teacher with several years of experience working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and ability levels. I currently teach high school students in Rocky View Schools and have extensive experience helping learners develop their reading, writing, comprehension, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students who excel academically, students who struggle with literacy, English language learners, and students who simply need additional confidence and support. I understand that every learner is different, and I tailor my approach to meet each student's individual needs, strengths, and goals.
My tutoring services are available for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 and can include:
Early literacy and phonics
Reading fluency and comprehension
Vocabulary development
Writing skills and organization
Essay writing and editing
Study skills and academic support
Homework assistance
Preparation for classroom assessments and exams
As a classroom teacher, I regularly help students strengthen their reading comprehension, analyze texts, improve writing structure, and develop effective learning strategies. My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and building confidence in their abilities.
In addition to my teaching experience, I have worked closely with students through coaching and extracurricular activities, which has helped me develop strong relationships with young people and understand how to motivate and support them both academically and personally.
Whether your child needs help catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead, I would be happy to work with them to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Looking for a reading tutor for your child? I am a certified teacher with extensive experience working with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. I specialize in helping students build confidence and skills in reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary development, writing, and literacy strategies.
I currently teach high school Social Studies and Indigenous Studies and have experience supporting a wide range of learners, including students who need extra support, reluctant readers, English language learners, and students working above grade level.
Services can include:
Early reading and phonics support
Reading fluency and comprehension
Vocabulary development
Writing and literacy skills
Homework support
Study and organizational skills
Academic support across multiple subject areas
