About Temika
As a dedicated third-grade teacher, I am passionate about fostering a love for learning and empowering young minds to think critically and creatively. With a background in education and leadership, I bring a unique blend of teaching expertise and organizational skills to the classroom. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of North Texas at Dallas, where I am expanding my knowledge of innovative teaching strategies and literacy development. My teaching philosophy is rooted in creating engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of my students, including emergent bilingual learners. Beyond the classroom, I am working toward earning my intern certificate, completing observation hours, and preparing for my SPED EC-12 certification exams to broaden my impact as an educator. I believe in continuous growth—for myself and my students. By emphasizing critical thinking, clear communication, and adaptive teaching methods, I strive to create an environment where every student feels valued and equipped to succeed.

My Approach as a Tutor
Teaching Method and Techniques
I believe in making math relatable and engaging by connecting concepts to real-world applications. My lessons incorporate:
Visual Aids and Hands-On Activities: I use tools like number lines, fraction models, and interactive games to deepen understanding.
Differentiated Instruction: Every student learns differently, so I adapt my techniques to suit their unique needs, whether they require visual, auditory, or kinesthetic approaches.
Step-by-Step Problem Solving: I guide students through math problems systematically, building their confidence and critical thinking skills.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-Up Activity: A quick review of prior concepts with a fun activity or question.
Introduction of New Topic: Use relatable examples and real-life connections.
Guided Practice: Work on problems together, gradually increasing in complexity.
Independent Practice: Provide opportunities for the student to solve problems with minimal guidance.
Review and Reflection: Summarize key points, answer questions, and celebrate successes.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Experience Across Grades: Having taught both 3rd and 5th grades, I bring expertise in foundational and advanced concepts.
Student-Centered Approach: I focus on building math confidence and tailoring lessons to individual learning styles.
Passion for Growth: My goal is to make math enjoyable and help students see its value beyond the classroom.
Who the Lessons Are For
I specialize in tutoring:
3rd-Grade Students: Multiplication, division, fractions, and foundational problem-solving skills.
5th-Grade Students: Advanced fractions, decimals, measurement, and critical thinking in math.
Students Preparing for TEKS Assessments: Ensuring they master concepts required for success.
