About Tom
I’m an incoming Medicine student at the University of Cambridge with a strong academic background and a genuine enthusiasm for helping other students achieve their goals.
I achieved 3 A*s at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as eleven Grade 9s and one Grade 8 at GCSE. Having recently been through GCSEs, A-Levels and the highly competitive Medicine and Oxbridge application process myself, I understand both the academic demands and the pressures students face.
I particularly enjoy helping students develop confidence in subjects they may initially find difficult. Rather than simply giving answers, I aim to help students understand how to approach problems independently and develop techniques they can take into their exams.
Alongside academic tutoring, I have experience tutoring GCSE students at school and coaching junior hockey players. These experiences have taught me how to adapt my teaching style to different individuals and explain ideas in a clear and approachable way.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and am subscribed to the DBS Update Service.
Having recently completed the Medicine application process successfully, I’m also keen to share what I learned with aspiring medical students, particularly those preparing for Oxbridge and Medicine applications and interviews.

I offer GCSE and A-Level tutoring in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as specialist support for students applying to Medicine and Oxbridge Medicine.
I achieved 3 A*s at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, alongside eleven Grade 9s and one Grade 8 at GCSE, and I am now going to the University of Cambridge to study Medicine.
My academic tutoring is tailored to each student. I can work through difficult topics, strengthen understanding of key concepts and focus on exam technique, mark-scheme language and how to approach challenging questions. Lessons can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the student’s needs and goals.
For aspiring medical students, I offer support with personal statements and the wider Medicine/Oxbridge application process, helping students communicate their experiences and motivation effectively while keeping their application authentic to them.
I also provide Medicine interview preparation, including both Oxbridge-style academic interviews and MMI interviews. Sessions can include mock interview questions, detailed feedback and discussion of medical ethics, communication scenarios and the key points interviewers are looking for.
I have previous experience tutoring GCSE students at school and also coach junior hockey players, giving me experience in teaching, explaining concepts clearly and adapting my approach to different individuals.
