About Daniel

I graduated from University College London with distinction in Theoretical Physics after completing a degree in Mathematics from Warwick in which I also achieved high first class performance and received an offer to study at Cambridge University on the world renowned Part III Mathematics postgraduate course.

Currently I am a Machine Learning Engineer for a startup company in Edinburgh and also an international tutor for a consultancy company in central London where my role is to provide unparalleled tutoring in challenging entrance exams and other progressional tests, like the STEP and MAT exams.

I tutor many high achieving students in the UK including many overseas students looking to find that golden route into Oxbridge and other top Russell group universities. For many of these students English is a second language, and so it is essential that tutoring is done by someone who has expertise in the subject and also a large amount of experience with the complex subjects involved in these papers.

Through my expertise in mathematics and my long history of tutoring secondary school students across the country sitting exams for the top Russell group universities, I have a proven track record of teaching the techniques required to get into these top universities.

I have an opening to take on a few more students for 1-on-1 tutoring for the upcoming STEP and MAT tests. I can not take on many students as I dedicate a very large amount of my time to each student and their preparation and planning to ensure that they're being supported in the most personalised way possible.

About the lesson

Lessons consist of a very rigorous analysis of the design process for these entrance exams. Often the fastest way to learn 'how to solve' entrance exams is to just understand how they make the exams in the first place.

Initially, I will gauge students existing skill level by getting student to complete an exam with my supervision while I make notes on their technique, thought processes and actual mathematical recall. Then, once students ability is ascertained, I construct a course of examples from previous papers and create my own custom questions which challenge the student in exactly the areas they most struggle in, and we will together go through each question, using aspects of information theory and dimensional analysis to explore how they can find the answers on their own in the future.

Lesson schedules are around four hours a week (can be increased and decreased as needed) for at least a few weeks, in which a back and forth of homework and lesson times sees the student completing past paper questions in extreme depth, spread out over time to ensure good future recall.
