Teaching Philosophy Statement
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that education should be engaging, practical, and transformative. As an instructor in finance, I adopt a student-centered approach that emphasizes experiential learning, enabling students to connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications. I incorporate case studies, simulations, and real-world financial scenarios to develop students’ analytical and decision-making skills, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of the financial environment.
I strongly value industry engagement as part of the learning process. By inviting industry professionals to deliver guest lectures, I provide students with exposure to current trends and practical insights that complement academic learning. In addition, I emphasize interactive, project-based learning through individual and group assignments that involve analyzing real companies and financial data. These experiences foster collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on skill development, helping students build confidence and professional readiness.
I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning styles. My teaching combines lectures, discussions, and technology-enabled tools to encourage active participation. I design assessments that evaluate both conceptual understanding and practical application, and I provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth. Ultimately, my goal is to equip students with strong financial knowledge, ethical awareness, and the ability to apply their learning effectively in real-world contexts.
Following are my proud achievements:
• Recipient of multiple 100% Teaching Effectiveness Awards from the Dean (Academics)
• Recipient of the “Sikyong Award” for academic excellence from Central Tibetan Administration (Tibetan Government in Exile)
• Positive student feedback demonstrating strong engagement and clarity in teaching
• Proven ability to connect theoretical concepts with real-world financial applications
Community Engagement and Outreach
I have actively contributed to financial literacy initiatives by conducting workshops across Tibetan Settlements in India. As the sole invited resource person, I collaborated with different departments of the Central Tibetan Administration to design and deliver these programs. These workshops focused on enhancing financial awareness, promoting inclusion, and improving practical financial decision-making skills among the participants.
Professional Development and Reflective Practice
I have completed a Faculty Development Programme in Pedagogy and Research Methods from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, which strengthened my teaching practices and research capabilities through exposure to advanced, evidence-based pedagogical approaches. At the same time, I like to continuously strive to improve my teaching through reflection and feedback. I actively incorporate student input and remain engaged with evolving pedagogical practices. My goal is to ensure that my teaching remains effective, relevant, and aligned with best practices in higher education.
