• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  While I can't pinpoint the exact moment I became interested in teaching music I know that being a teacher, especially a music teacher, can help many people cope with their daily challenges, inspire them, or bring them joy in learning new skills.

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  Music has been a significant part of my life, both as a music researcher in music education during my graduate studies and as a music tutor in my current role. The fact that it can change people's lives, and there is always something new to learn in music, even for me, will always keep me passionate about music.

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

  The fact that I was once a guitar student, not a great one! Therefore, I can understand what needs to be done in most classes to accommodate students' needs. Being a "Superprof" means being "superunderstanding" in my point of view.

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

  I had one basketball coach, who was a good "teacher". The significance of this teacher was that he personalized his teaching approach to suit his students; he understood what they might be going through and what they might need to hear. It was not only about the basketball in his class, but also about the bond that you create there, which helps you grow as a person. The experience of those days was my inspiration to teach others, which could not only help them make their way in music but also assist them with some aspect of their lives.

• What are your keys to success?

  I believe that being kind, understanding, patient, and having fun while teaching—because that enthusiasm is contagious—are the three most important qualities every tutor should represent.
