About Noémie

I am a Cegep student and a native French speaker. I have done tutoring with multiple of my peers during high school and so I am able to work with older students without any issue. I am able to help students prepare for their MELS french exam as well.
Although french is my native language, I am perfectly bilingual (english) and I speak a little bit of spanish. That being said, teaching students whose first language isn’t french is not an issue for me, as some of my previous tutoring experiences have been with people that knew little french.
I have also helped teaching a 5-year-old to learn how to read, because both parents weren’t able to help their child in french.

I usually start my first lesson with a mini quiz to be able to understand the student’s main difficulties. After looking at the results with the student, we decide what we will be focussing on each lesson. I can help students with pronunciation, conjugation, grammar, homework or preparation for an important french exam, such as the MELS for grade 12 students.
One of the services I offer is comprehension in french, which means that I can assist students in understanding the vocabulary of any homework in french, wether it be math or history.
I am very patient and do not lack creativity when it comes to teaching kids or finding new ways of explaining a concept.
My main goal is to help students feel more confident in their writing, speaking and comprehension skills when it comes to french. That being said, I like to speak mainly in french with the student to get them used to the language, but also because it is the language in which their teacher explains. Therefore, they will be able to make connections between my lesson and the teachers and understand concepts easier.
