About Anna

Hello! My name is Anna, and I am a Certified Alberta Teacher with over 42 years of teaching experience and more than 10 years of private tutoring experience.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from McGill University, followed by a Master of Education. Throughout my career, I have taught in both Montreal and Calgary, working with a wide range of student populations and learning needs.

My teaching experience includes classroom instruction in regular programs, a closed special education classroom for approximately four years, ESL support, gifted education, and adapted and modified programs. In Calgary, I also worked as both a homeroom teacher in the mornings and a French as a Second Language (FSL) teacher in the afternoons for Grades 4 to 6, teaching approximately 250 students.

With this diverse background, I have developed a strong ability to adapt my teaching to each student’s individual needs, learning style, and pace. I continue to use student-centered, engaging, and supportive teaching strategies that combine proven methods with modern approaches.

I work with children, teenagers, and adult learners to build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and support long-term success. My tutoring is always personalized and focused on helping students become independent and motivated learners.

I provide support in English Language Arts, Reading and Writing, ESL, Elementary French Immersion, French as a Second Language (FSL), Math, and Study Skills. Whether students need academic support, enrichment, or exam preparation, my goal is to help them reach their full potential in a positive and encouraging environment.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual's learning style, strengths, and goals. My objective is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and a genuine understanding of the material.

Lessons begin with a brief assessment to identify the student's current level and any areas that need extra attention. Together, we set achievable goals and work through concepts using clear explanations, guided practice, and meaningful activities. I regularly review previously learned material to reinforce understanding and help students retain new skills.

I create a supportive, patient, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes. Whether a student needs help catching up, strengthening foundational skills, preparing for an exam, or challenging themselves academically, lessons are designed to meet their individual needs.

I tutor students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in English Language Arts, Reading and Writing, ESL, Elementary French Immersion, Math, and Study Skills. I also work with adult ESL learners who want to improve their speaking, reading, writing, and everyday communication skills.

As a Certified Alberta Teacher with 42 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I understand the Alberta curriculum and know how to adapt my teaching to help students succeed. My goal is to help every student become a more confident, independent learner while making learning engaging, positive, and rewarding.
