My Approach as a Tutor is to help in building foundations for success. As an experienced Early Childhood Educator and teachers college student, I believe in a student-centered approach to tutoring. My methodology focuses on creating a supportive and engaging environment where each learner feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. I incorporate a mix of hands-on activities, visual aids, and interactive discussions to cater to diverse learning styles. I emphasize building foundational skills in literacy, math, and science through practical, real-world applications. My sessions are designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, ensuring students develop confidence and a deeper understanding of the material.
This is what a typical lesson plan would look like:
Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): Review previous lessons or introduce a fun, subject-related activity to spark interest.
Main Lesson (20-30 minutes): Introduce new concepts through a combination of instruction, examples, and guided practice. Ensuring to use the scaffolding technique such as I do, we do and you do. This may include storytelling for language arts, experiments for science, or manipulatives for math.
Student Practice (15-20 minutes): Independent or collaborative activities tailored to the student’s level and goals.
Review and Reflection (5-10 minutes): Summarize key points, answer questions, and set goals for the next session.
Now what sets me apart, I bring a unique perspective as a teacher-in-training with real classroom experience and a passion for inclusive education. I am adept at adapting lessons to meet individual needs, whether supporting early learners with foundational skills or helping struggling students catch up. My focus on early intervention strategies ensures that students build a strong academic base and feel motivated to succeed.
My tutoring services are designed for elementary school students (Kindergarten to Grade 6) who need support in:
Language Arts: Reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension.
Math: Number sense, problem-solving, and foundational operations.
Science: Exploration of topics such as habitats, communities, and adaptations.
Whether your child needs help with homework, is preparing for a test, or requires enrichment activities to stay challenged, I customize lessons to fit their specific needs and goals.
Let me help your child build the skills and confidence they need to thrive and achieve their best self!
