About Rebecca

Do you need a second pair of eyes on your essay or dissertation? Known for spotting typos on websites and misplaced apostrophes on shop signs, I now use my skills for good to teach proofreading and catch stray commas in the wonderful world of academic writing.

I am a certified and experienced proofreader, with a multi-disciplinary academic background in the humanities. I have proofread and edited a variety of academic texts such as dissertations, monographs, textbooks, and journal articles.

I would love to work with you through your essay editing and proofreading process!

About the lesson

As an experienced academic editor and proofreader, there are two ways I can help you with your proofreading and editing needs.

1. Proofreading Lesson In this session, I will teach you how to proofread your own work. I will:
- Outline the process of editing and proofreading your own work
- Give you some tips on how to structure and go about proofreading
- Go over what to look out for in terms of spelling, grammar, tone, formatting, and more

It is helpful if you bring a sample of your writing to the session to use as an example.

2. Proofreading Service I also offer a proofreading service where I proofread* your work for you. I will:
- Check spelling and grammar
- Ensure consistent formatting in terms of document layout, font, headings, and references
- Provide feedback on writing style and academic tone
- Proofread at a rate of approximately 2000 words/hour

* Please note that this does not involve rewriting or checking the accuracy of your work. It is your responsibility to check with your educational provider that academic proofreading services are permitted.
