About Paul Joël

Hello! I’m Paul, a certified Spanish teacher based in Ottawa with nearly 10 years of experience. I hold DIPES I and II teaching qualifications and WES-assessed bachelor’s and master’s degree equivalencies. Patient, friendly and fluent in French, Spanish and English, I teach learners of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced students and professionals, tailoring every lesson to their goals.

About the lesson

My Spanish lessons are personalized, practical, and designed around each learner’s level, goals, interests, and learning pace. I use a communicative and action-oriented approach that helps students develop the confidence to use Spanish in real-life situations.

During our first lesson, I assess the student’s current level, needs, strengths, and objectives. I then create a structured learning plan that may include conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, writing, cultural content, and regular feedback.

A typical lesson includes:

A short review and warm-up activity
The introduction of a practical language objective
Clear explanations with relevant examples
Guided practice through dialogues, exercises, or authentic materials
Conversation and real-life communication activities
Corrections, personalized feedback, and recommendations for continued practice

What distinguishes me is my combination of formal teacher training and nearly 10 years of classroom experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language. I hold recognized qualifications in Spanish language education, including DIPES I and DIPES II, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degree equivalencies assessed by WES Canada. I use structured, communicative, and learner-centered methods while creating a patient and encouraging learning environment.

My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners, including teenagers, adults, secondary school students, university students, professionals, travelers, and anyone interested in improving their Spanish. I can also support learners with conversation, grammar, pronunciation, academic Spanish, schoolwork, exam preparation, and DELE-oriented practice.

Lessons can be delivered in English, French, or Spanish, depending on the student’s level and preferences. Whether you are starting from zero, preparing for an academic or professional goal, or seeking greater fluency, I will help you progress through a clear and personalized learning plan.
