About Taeko
I am a early childhood teacher and a pianist. I have been living in New Zealand since 2006. In Japan I held a position of afternoon school teacher for primary school children for 12 years. I am certified Tea Ceremony Master from highly respected Omote-Senke Tea Ceremony Class. I graduated from Kobe Shinwa Women’s University with the Batchelor degree in English language and literature. In New Zeland I have given piano lessons for children and also played at a ballet school. I have given private tutoring in Japanese for local students. I also got the NZQA Level 3 Early Childhood Education and Care certificate.

My teaching method is to focus on the individual needs and strengths of my students. I teach Japanese from the cultural point of view, helping students understand the vocabulary and grammar and the cultural aspects. As a Tea Ceremony Master, I have a unique artistic way of guiding students to the deeper level of Japanse culture, customs and mindset than traditional teaching would do.

Details
The rate for lessons given at my home is $50 per hour. The first hour is free. For lessons at the stundents homes, the rate is $60 per hour including the travel cost if it is in Wellington region.
