About Charlotte
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught at the University of Hong Kong, the HK Academy for Performing Arts, at the Purcell School (11 years) and many reputable private schools. Over the last 9 years, I have taught a considerable number of students from Oxford University. I also work as a holistic coach for musicians enabling them to reach their full potential, and regularly give talks and masterclasses in schools & universities across the country. My book 'Music from the Inside Out' is in most of the national music conservatoires.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I don't have this currently because I mostly teach over 18's.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I belong to the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians) and EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association)

- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I currently teach piano and chamber music.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA Honours degree in Music from York University, and a Certificate in Advanced Studies from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (post-graduate). I then spent most of one year at the Banff Centre, Canada, studying collaborative piano and working as a repetiteur and coach on the Music Theatre programme.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £65 per hour for lessons, whether piano or chamber music.
- Where do you teach?
I teach in my studio at my home in Cowley, Oxford. The studio is spacious enough for working with ensembles, and I have a Steinway Model 'O' piano.
- When are you available?
I teach from Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 6.30pm. My last lesson finishes at 6.30pm
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I work best with Intermediate and Advanced students, and they tend to be over 18. I am happy to teach younger than 18 assuming that the children are keen and committed, and are above complete beginner level. Potential students are asked to give some background about themselves and their standards when contacting me through my website.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am happy to teach the piano on Skype.
